Western Plains Public Health in Mandan, North Dakota
Western Plains Public Health is seeking a Director of Nursing to lead our nursing department and oversee a variety of public health nursing programs. This role offers an opportunity to shape community health initiatives, mentor nursing staff, and strengthen partnerships that improve the health and well-being of our five-county health district (Grant, Mercer, Morton, Oliver and Sioux Counties).
What You’ll Do:
- Provide strategic leadership for public health nursing programs
- Supervise and mentor nursing staff, fostering growth and teamwork
- Oversee home visiting services, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with local partners and community organizations
- Manage budgets, policies, and reports for the Board of Health
- Play a key role in public health emergency response
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program
- Current RN license (North Dakota, unencumbered)
- 5+ years nursing experience, with at least 1 year in public health
- Basic Life Support certification
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within service area
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree (MSN, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or related)
- 3+ years of leadership experience in nursing or public health
- Experience with budgets and grant funding
