Western Plains Public Health in Mandan, North Dakota

Western Plains Public Health is seeking a Director of Nursing to lead our nursing department and oversee a variety of public health nursing programs. This role offers an opportunity to shape community health initiatives, mentor nursing staff, and strengthen partnerships that improve the health and well-being of our five-county health district (Grant, Mercer, Morton, Oliver and Sioux Counties).

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide strategic leadership for public health nursing programs
  • Supervise and mentor nursing staff, fostering growth and teamwork
  • Oversee home visiting services, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with local partners and community organizations
  • Manage budgets, policies, and reports for the Board of Health
  • Play a key role in public health emergency response

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program
  • Current RN license (North Dakota, unencumbered)
  • 5+ years nursing experience, with at least 1 year in public health
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within service area

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree (MSN, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or related)
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in nursing or public health
  • Experience with budgets and grant funding
